The Torax Mud Saver is a drilling tool used below the kelly or top drive to prevent loss of drilling mud. The mud saver has a urethane air chamber which seals around the plug cage. When the pumps are off the air chamber is closed preventing mud from flowing through the tool. When mud is being pumped at approximately 75 psi the pressure inside the chamber is overcome allowing mud to flow through.
